Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.
Love one another with brotherly affection.
Outdo one another in showing honor….
Live in harmony with one another….
If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
- Romans 12
I made a list of real life “life suckers” that drive me crazy: People that …
1- Have a high sense of entitement with a very low sense of gratitude
2- Are legalistic
3- Make much of others sin but lightly write off their own
4- Are knocked on their backside by the slightest inconvenience
5- Boast in themselves and overlook the effort of others
6- Forget Christ! Do your chore!
And it turns out that the most life sucking vampire in my life is…
Me.
I am a life sucker.
So here we go.
This is scripture written by the Apostle Paul. He was the second best Christian ever. Jesus is the first.
The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost (worst). – 1 Timothy
So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand…. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
-Romans 7
Amen.
Not only do we suck the life out of ourselves and the people around us but …
we also a cost Jesus His life.
What we call issues in other people lives,
God looks in our hearts and sees sin.
That sin nailed Jesus on the cross.
You see…
Loving the people who suck the life out of you starts with realizing how much you suck too.
No one listens to a the voice of a prideful man. The truth is, we are nothing without God. We did not get to where we are today by oursleves. God brought us here.
Car. God made it and God bought it.
House. God built it and provided it.
Family. God created them and God gave them.
Job. God set it up and God sustains it.
Salvation. God chose you and will bring it to completion.
When we see that without God we are no better than others God uses us to bring Hope (Jesus) to shatter the dark in others. And out of this flows streams of unity while worshiping Jesus. This is where victory is found.
Students we must always remember…
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us – Romans 5
